The most beautiful glass is the glass you do not see. Spotless and crystal clear. It seems simple, doesn’t it?

Nevertheless, there are several rules of thumb for the maintenance of your glass surfaces that you should certainly take into account. We are pleased to share them with you!

Dos

• Glass surfaces, and especially your exterior windows, are exposed to natural pollution from the elements. Regular cleaning prevents dirt from accumulating and supports the long lifespan of your glass.
• Do not place a ladder against the glass during cleaning
• Cleaning materials must not be contaminated with silicone or grease
• Clean the glass regularly with plenty of clean water and, if necessary, a specific glass cleaner. A dash of cleaning vinegar or methylated spirits also works well!
• If the glass is heavily soiled, it is best to change your water very frequently.
• Use a soft sponge, a chamois leather, and a clean cotton cloth or a microfiber cloth.
• If you use a squeegee, choose a silicone-free rubber one.
• Concrete or cement splashes, plaster, and mortar must be washed off immediately and carefully with plenty of clean water.
• Stubborn contaminants such as paint or tar splashes and adhesive residues can be removed with white spirit or acetone.
• Maintenance products for aluminum, PVC, or wood that come into contact with the glass can cause damage to the glass
• For cement haze or traces of silicone, it is best to use standard non-abrasive cleaners for ceramic hobs
• Always be careful with cleaning agents near sealing profiles or silicone joints.

Don’ts

• Never use an ice scraper or other sharp objects such as a utility knife or a kitchen knife.
• Do not use aggressive abrasive cleaners.
• The use of descalers or strongly alkaline soapy water is strictly forbidden.
• Do not use detergents that are not specifically intended for glass, such as dishwashing products or floor cleaners.
• Avoid using abrasive tools such as scouring pads, coarse steel wool, etc.
• Lukewarm water is fine, but never use boiling water. This can cause your beautiful glass surface to crack.
• Do not use portable polishing machines. These remove a significant amount of the glass mass and can cause optical distortions.

However, the best advice we can give you is to maintain your glass surfaces very regularly. This way, you give dirt and grease no chance to cause damage.
